My view on RvB and opinon on machinima…

…So, I was treading the Machinima.com forums, as I usually do, when I came across this thread: “red vs blue”
Now, I dont have anything PERSONALLY against RvB. But, I feel it necessary to share my view on the subject, quoted from the same thread:

There are many, many reasons to (not exactly hate) but dislike Red vs Blue.

First off, is that they just might be TOO popular. The amount of “fan-films”, series, parodies, wannabes, within other things is… too much to handle.
I might even call it repulsive.
All they do, in a way of placing it, is ripping-off Red vs Blue.

They are not being creative.
Which is completely opposite of what Machinima is. (Machinima is all about being creative, do things no-one has ever done before, thats why we have so many tools at our disposal)
Not to mention, these people only use RedvsBlue as… role models.

…If I continue with my thoughts, I might as well get carried away, and get off-topic.

Also, I have seen Red vs Blue, hell, I’m a SPONSOR on their site. And while in my opinion, their stuff is good (Yet not the best) its not the only good machinima out there.

Like the other day, I saw a Halo-based machinima. A very original story, good characters, good dialog, and no intention to be the next Red vs Blue, I still managed to find a comment on the video. (Aproximately) Stating:

“This is a stupid video, you just wanna be a RvB knock-off. All these characters are dumb and rip-offs from… (List of RvB characters) …you are stupid, and you are not as skilled at life as you believe. Stop making videos, newbie. You rip-off, I’m telling Rooster Teeth productions on you!
Okay, thank you, goodbye.”

I really had to clean up most of the ortografic horrors the message contained. Really, its so hard to understand it the way they put it.
But still, this proves the stupidity one may recieve from being closed minded enough to actually believe Red vs Blue is the only machinima worthy of praise.

Now, all those who just complain at Rooster Teeth’s stupid name or titles just needs to grow up and actually find a way of making their point clear, just to avoid using the other terms I had in mind.
*cough cough*

So, Its true that I learned of machinima through Red vs Blue, its true I’m an avid fan of Rooster Teeth’s work, I am not saying that they have done the best things.

Maybe they have done much more good than bad, but not for much.
To all you RvB wannabes:

STOP MAEKIN VIDEOS, U SUCK AT LIEF! BE CREATIVE!

P.S. Use Halo as an action engine. Its not the best at comedy.

Dammit, I’m serious here. the “i”s? They belong to Apple. ITS WRITTEN “I” GOD DAMN IT!

And as I stated here, Red vs Blue… (in a very vague and basic way of putting it) …is killing creativity.
For example, we make a video with Halo, its an RVB knock-off. We make a comedy, its even more of an RVB knock-off.
We have one character like Caboose or Donut, its an RVB Knock-off.
We make an action film with Halo, ITS A MOTHERF*CKING CODEX KNOCK-OFF!

I know that because the speed of things going on lately, (all the ideas being taken, and everything being done already) its impossible to be fully original with something.

Yet, thats not really an excuse. To all those RvB wannabes: Have you seen anything ELSE from the Halo channel besides comedy?
Hell, have you seen ANY other channels? Have you seen what people have done with Moviestorm? iClone? The Sims? Unreal Tournament?

Its amazing what some people can do with a little imagination. You like a game? Find a way to making it into a decent machinima engine.

Now, with what I have said, I hope to make myself clear by saying that I do not think that all Halo machinima is bad or unoriginal.
Hell, I’m pretty sure great things can be done with this engine. Just that the only requisite with making machinima with Halo:
BE ORIGINAL.

Just as a side-note: When I started machinima, (and didnt know fully about Red vs Blue, aside from creation method and short name) I had this small series I did with a few friends here: Halo Chronicles: A tale of two war heroes (it was a comedy, similar to Red vs Blue)
And its main plot was about two spartans who lost their way with the platoon and in some way ended in the middle of a cave between an iced land (Sidewinder) and Blood Gulch. Two guys and two enemies. (They were 2 disguised aliens, then in Halo2, revealed with the Elite skin) One was a scientist, and the other was a brute (a strong idiot) …Who knows, I may even REMAKE it.

…So, yeah.
Thats basically my take on the subject. Oh, and if interested, here is the thread I commented on.
I suggest you take a look at some good points on the matter. And ignore the dumbass responses.
